A USAF C-17 took 675 men, women and children out of Tacloban Airport to safety. This was simply amazing to see how this aircraft was filled to capacity with people in need. Good job, Air Force and all the military folks down in the P.I. performing aid missions.

    A USAF C-17 flew a whopping . . 675 . . men . . and . . women ...and... children out of Tacloban P. I. . . in a single load.

It's definitely not a video of the C17 take off since the plane in the video is a C 5 Galaxy.

Well after looking closer it seems you are correct! I just happened to see this video while viewing C-17's on youtube and went by the header of the video. That's even better to show what a C-5 can do!

You are right about that. Simply amazing! Maybe too amazing. A lot of the comments to this video on YouTube agree that it's faked. The fact that the video poster got the type wrong might support that view.

I would agree unless it had extended JATO or something lol. Never know, some of these guys are composed from both inexperienced and experienced but, it only takes one mistake. Takes a special type to try and just like the video of both the B-52 and the C-17 in the "graveyard roll" as they say ya cant get lift perpendicular to the ground unless you have the speed and power to compensate and follow through in a corrective way, they didn't have that asset.
I wonder if any of military cockpit recordings are ever released to the public, not to be morbid but for educational purposes.
These C-17 pilots and crew do emergency approaches and landings on par with the space shuttle I seen on you tube. It would probably freak out regular pax lol. Just some fun watching. :)

Great pics Sierra and David. Different to see good coming out of disaster, and they certainly suffered through a disaster.

I've always wondered about some of these military transports' commercial potential. With their multiple levels, "spacious cabins," and high max takeoff weights, wouldn't they be great for packing cattle in 12 abreast seating? Although I guess you'd have to check the fuel consumption to see if it'd be worth it for the airlines.

Our tax dollars at work. I'm so glad we are able to help folks in this manner. I have already donated what I could to Samaritans Purse (Franklin Graham's charity), to help these folks. I hope everyone here is also helping in some tangible way. I loved it when I went to Clark AFB. (197_?)...... Nothin' better that a cold San Miguel on a hot muggy day.
