An American Airlines jet flying from Seattle to Miami diverted to Denver for an emergency landing after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.

American Airlines spokeswoman Dori Alavarez says the plane landed safely early Friday with 183 passengers. Maintenance crews are inspecting the plane to determine if the flight can continue or if the passengers have to be rebooked on other flights.

There were no reported injuries.

The aircraft was a Boeing 757.

Denver International Airport spokesman Heath Montgomery says the flight crew was unable to pinpoint where the smell of smoke originated.
