A Pakistan International Airlines Flight (PIA) from Karachi, Pakistan to London, Heathrow (UK) returned to Karachi shortly after takeoff today when one of the plane’s engines failed.
PIA Flight 787, an Airbus A310, returned to Karachi after several loud bangs occurred followed by flames out of the left-side engine.
‘The plane with flight number 787 remained hovering over the airport for about 15 minutes before it managed to land at the airport, said airport authorities. The pilot discharged part of the plane’s fuel before it was ready for an emergency landing, said local media.’
There were no reports of any injuries.
A PIA spokesman denied the local media reports about the plane engine fire, saying the plane made an emergency landing only because of some technical problems.
