United Airline’s first revenue flight for their new Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be November 4th from Houston to Chicago.

“We’ve been waiting for this airplane for about eight years, so it’s a pretty big day,” United CEO Jeff Smisek told reporters Thursday. “It’s very fuel efficient. … It will make routes that wouldn’t otherwise be profitable, profitable. So it’s a tremendous asset for us to have.”

United has ordered 50 of the revolutionary plane and plans to take delivery of 5 787s by the end of the year.

United plans to use its Dreamliners for international routes in the future for the most part but will initially fly domestic routes.
