United Airlines 757 Damaged by De-Icing Truck at Newark Airport
A United Airlines Boeing 757 was damaged on Sunday at Newark Liberty International Airport when a de-icing truck accidentally struck the aircraft.
A United employee reportedly lost control of the truck during a drill and struck the jet on its port-side engine. The plane, which was outside of Terminal C, was not in service at the time so there were no passengers aboard. No one was hurt.
“Our crews were conducting deicing training on an aircraft and the de-icing mechanism did come into contact with the aircraft, but there was no one on the aircraft,” United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy said. “There is damage. We’re evaluating and we will make repairs.”
