Malaysia Airlines Adds Kuala Lumpur-Chennai Daytime 737 Flights
Beginning 1 September 2012, passengers travelling to Chennai, India will enjoy more connectivity with Malaysia Airlines’ new daytime frequencies between Kuala Lumpur and the South Indian city.
Effective that date, the current daily night service to Chennai will be complemented by four weekly daytime flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
The daytime flight MH182 departs Kuala Lumpur at 09:35 hours and arrives in the South Indian city at 10:45 hours. The return flight departs Chennai at 11:45 hours to arrive Kuala Lumpur at 18:15 hours.
The new flights will be operated using the 160 seat B737-800 offers a total capacity of 1280 seats in both directions on top of the existing capacity of 3206 seats from the A330-200 daily evening flights.
Malaysia Airlines’ Regional Senior Vice President for Malaysia and ASEAN, Encik Muzammil Mohamad said, “Malaysia Airlines’ enhanced schedule allows the two cities to have better full service air connectivity, making it very convenient for travelers to fly between Kuala Lumpur and Chennai as they will have more flexibility in choosing their flights. Plus, this opens the opportunity for inbound tourism in both countries.”
“Also, in recognizing the demand for flights to the South Indian city, we are pleased to announce that by 5 January 2013, these flights will be converted to twice daily on our new B737-800 with a choice of morning and evening departures,” he added.
Malaysia Airlines’ B737-800 features higher ceilings and sculpted sidewalls to give the feeling of a wide-body cabin. Aimed at enhancing passenger’s travel experience, the aircraft is also fitted with 9 to 10.6 inch LCD screens, USB chargers with thinner and lighter seats.
