The union representing Lufthansa Airlines cabin crew has gone on strike at Frankfurt Airport.

The walkout, over pay and conditions, is expected to last for eight hours, from 0500 to 1300 local time.

The UFO union, which represents Lufthansa’s cabin crew workers, promised strikes after talks broke down over salary compensation. The union and the airline have been in dispute for a year over pay and working conditions.

We will update for flight cancellations as we are informed.

UPDATE:

Striking cabin crew workers have returned to the job after an 8 hour strike at Frankfurt Airport.

As a result, more than 220 flights to and from Frankfurt have been cancelled. There will be lengthy delays as the airline and airport get caught up, so it should be nice mess for awhile.

Lufthansa cabin crew union UFO said they are not ruling out even more strikes if their demands are not met.
