A Lufthansa Boeing 737 flying from Dusseldorf to London Heathrow returned to Dusseldorf due to a smoke in the cabin warning.

Lufthansa Flight 3386, with 79 passengers aboard, made a safe landing at Dusseldorf with fire crews waiting.

After post-landing inspection, reports say a bird had flown in to one of the engines causing the smell.

There were no injuries.

The incident aircraft was D-ABIC, a 737-500 delivered in 1990. Too bad Lufthansa is planning on retiring this fleet in 2015… these planes are still young!
