A Delta Airlines plane that took off from Boston Logan Airport (BOS) originally headed to Kansas City International (MCI) diverted to John F. Kennedy (JFK) after reports say the aircraft blew a tire after takeoff.

Delta Flight 3285, operating as Pinnacle Airlines…a Canadair CRJ-900, circled for over an hour while it burned fuel before making an emergency landing at JFK this evening at about 8:35 PM EDT.

The pilot was planning on returning to Boston Logan but there were high winds in the area as the plane was circling so they decided to divert to JFK.

There are no reported injuries.

That must have been a scary landing!

The incident CRJ900 aircraft was N915XJ delivered to Mesaba in 2007.

I “think” the passengers who got stuck at JFK are currently on their way to MCI aboard Mesaba’s CRJ900 “N924XJ” although i can’t confirm this. This plane landed at JFK 6pm tonight and was scheduled to go to MSP tomorrow AM but that flight was cancelled for an unknown reason. I’m assuming that plane is currently shuttling the stranded passengers of Flight 3285.

Actually i think the stranded passengers could be on N937XJ… It arrived at JFK tonight at 9:16pm from ORD on a mysterious flight number 3408…

Stupid flightaware why don’t you update!!?? We need this info!

      Thanks for sharing this, Daniel!!

I must say, i’m VERY impressed by the communications between this crew and the controllers on the ground. It sounded like a well-oiled machine to me. This is how accidents are avoided, plain and simple!
