A Qantas Airbus A330 flight had to return to Perth, Australia yesterday when the plane suffered a bird strike.

Qantas Flight 776 was scheduled to fly to Melbourne with 256 people on board when reports say a loud bang was heard on the right side of the aircraft. It was determined that a bird took out the right-hand engine.

Pilots shut down the engine and returned to Perth for a safe landing. No on was reported injured.

The airplane was taken out of service.
