United Express Bombardier Q400 with damage to its tail after the collision

A Lufthansa Airbus A330 and a United Express Bombardier Q400 clipped each other today while on a taxiway at Washington Dulles Airport (IAD).

The incident took place at about 3:15 PM EDT when the Lufthansa A330 was taxiing and its wing clipped the tail of the United Express Q400 on its tail (see photo).

Fire crews responded to the incident but there were no injuries.

Both aircraft were taken out of service for examination.

    I’m thinking it’s the de Havilland’s fault? The A330 looks to be directly on the center line of it’s taxiway.

    Looking at the photos it appears that the Colgan Q400 was heading for the gate. It is really hard to say without statements but the Airbus hit him from the rear and that probably indicates that the Q400 wasn’t clear of the taxiway yet and the Airbus just kept on coming. In any case there should probably be a finding of some sort of human fault on this one. Glad no one was injured.
