A United Airlines plane bound for Switzerland from Newark last night diverted to Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS) when a camera was found on the plane but nobody claimed ownership.

United Airlines Flight 956 took off from Newark Liberty International (EWR) at 6:47 PM EDT headed for Geneva’s Cointrin International Airport (GVA) with 157 passengers and 11 crew members.

About an hour in to its journey flight attendants found the camera but could locate an owner. The flight then turned around and headed to Boston as a security precaution.

The flight landed safely and the passengers were offloaded so authorities could sweep the plane. Nothing was found on the Boeing 767.

The camera was also found to be harmless.

United spokesperson Rahsaan Johnson said the camera was found in one of the back seat pockets and inside an airsickeness bag.
