A United Airlines jet flying to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) had to return to Honolulu (HNL) when the crew detected an odor in the cabin.

United Flight 1196, a Boeing 757-300 aircraft, took off from Honolulu at 7:16 AM local time and was just minutes in to its flight when the odor was detected. The pilot returned the aircraft back to Honolulu.

Mechanics checked the airliner and the odor dissipated so Flight 1196 took off again for Los Angeles.

The only problem was the electrical odor returned so the pilots returned once again to Honolulu.

The aircraft was grounded after that and passengers were put on other flights.

United spokesman Rahsaan Johnson said the airline apologizes for the inconvenience.

Good calls by the crew! Happy endings are a blessing.

When I read ‘Odor’ I think someone didn’t wash that morning and they had to land! :)

This is a another reason I don’t fly UAL. I feel sorry for the
passengers that had to wait hours until they were able to get on another
    airplane.
another reason for not flying UAL
