An SAS Airlines plane at Washington Dulles Airport (IAD) hit a truck while pushing back for its flight to Copenhagen Airport yesterday evening damaging the plane.

SAS Flight 926, an Airbus A340, was due to leave Dulles at 6:58 PM EDT. The FAA reports that the plane incurred unspecified damage.

The A340 was, however,  grounded due to the damage and the flight was cancelled.

There were no reported injuries and passengers were accommodated on other flights.

Was it under its own power or was it being pushed?

  2. Shawn says:

The plane hit a truck, and the plane is hurt. What happened to the truck?

  3. Bernt Faye-Lund says:

SAS never uses own powerback, they always use pushbacktrucks

    • Chris says:

I don’t think a powerback would be very productive for an A340… I’m sure they did this routinely with their MD80′s though.

      • Bernt Faye-Lund says:

No. They never did. Well I shouldnt say never, but with my 34 years as a C/A with the company I have never seen they do it.

  4. Pete I.A. says:

We tried it with a 747 several years ago. Even empty it wasn’t verry successful.
