Delta’s Comair May Shut its Doors

Comair
Comair, the regional carrier that is owned by Delta Airlines, may shut its doors on October 1st, 2012, according to reports.
Delta has continued to cut the airline’s fleet size as well as routes. In addition, Delta’s leasing of Airtran’s Boeing 717 jet fleet signals a further paring down of regional jet service.
Cincinnati, Ohio ABC affiliate station WCPO, contacted Delta Air Lines for comment:
“In view of significant changes in the economic and competitive conditions in the regional airline industry in recent years, Delta continues to explore strategic alternatives for Comair, as previously announced. Until a final decision has been made, we cannot comment further,” Kristin Baur, Delta Corporate Communications, told the news station.
Comair president Ryan Gumm said recently to his employees that a “final decision” on Comair’s future will come as early as the end of July.
