American Airlines Flight Returns to St. Louis, Bird Strike
An American Airlines flight returned to Lambert St. Louis International Airport (STL) shortly after takeoff this morning due to a bird strike.
American Flight 1500 left Lambert at 7:24 AM CDT bound for Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and hit a flock of birds as the Boeing 757 was starting its climb. Although the birds did not take out an engine, pilots immediately returned to St. Louis as a precaution.
There were no injuries.
After inspection the plane was cleared to fly and resumed its trip after an hour and a half delay.

Good call. Even the slightest “dent” or “scratch” in the aluminum skin could cause a disaster when the plane begins to pressurize at altitude.
Those damn birds get into everything! :)
