US Airways Won’t Pursue American Airlines Merger Until Bankruptcy Finished
US Airways has decided to wait until American Airlines‘ bankruptcy proceedings conclude before they pursue a merger.
US Airways CEO Doug Parker stated this in a letter to his employees:
‘In the letter, Parker wrote: “There is certainly no urgency for us to merge, so long as we are a given a fair chance to present our superior alternative in time to merge with AMR upon their emergence from bankruptcy.”‘
American’s bankruptcy process will likely last until the end of the year.
American Airlines filed for bankruptcy in November of last year.
