Air Malawi Cabin Crew Strike Delays Flight
An Air Malawi flight (Flight 201) from Blantyre to Johannesburg was delayed by six hours at Chileka International Airport Friday morning when the cabin crew walked off the job. Reports say they were demanding more pay and working conditions.
A visit to the Airport by Weekend Nation found some stranded passengers eagerly waiting in the boarding bay.
Senior crewing officer, Ledrex Nkhoma, confirmed the strike, but refused to give details, saying he had not seen the letter that the cabin crew sent management.
He referred the matter to a Mr Mmangeni, an administrator, who refused to speak and in turn referred the matter to the airline’s spokesperson, Tony Chimpukuso.
