An American Eagle flight flying from Jackson International (JAN), Mississippi to Dallas Ft. Worth (DFW) diverted to Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) Tuesday morning when the pilot smelled smoke in the cockpit.

American Eagle Flight 2871, an Embraer ERJ-135, left Jackson at 9:42 AM and landed at Shreveport at 10:22 AM with 48 passengers on board.

There were no injuries.

At last report mechanics were checking over the aircraft.

Passengers were put on other flights to DFW.
