UPDATE – May 25, 2012 – 1:05 PM EDT:

We’re being told that the man did NOT rush the cockpit…only that he got up and walked toward the front of the plane while disobeying crew orders to sit down.

A man has been detained this morning as he reportedly tried to rush the cockpit on an American Airlines flight as it landed in Miami (MIA).

American Airlines Flight 320, a Boeing 757, was coming from Sangster Airport (MBJ) in Montego bay, Jamaica and had landed in Miami when the unidentified man tried to enter the cockpit of the aircraft.

Two male passengers held the man down until the aircraft parked at Gate D48 and he was then arrested.

‘American Airlines released a statement, that read in part, “After landing a passenger was not cooperating with crew member instructions and was acting suspiciously. Airport police were called and they removed the passenger from the plane.”‘

The FBI also released a statement:

“We are aware of an incident on a plane in bound to MIA today (AA 320) in which a passenger reportedly rushed the cockpit door. The FBI is investigating the alleged incident, nevertheless the plane did land safely without damage to the plane or injuries.”

The airport remains open and traffic operating normally.
