UPDATE – May 22, 2012 – 2:45 PM EDT:

A French woman was taken in to custody. Reportedly she said she had a ‘surgically implanted device’.

She had no luggage with her according to authorities.

The flight has been cleared to resume its flight.

A US Airways flight was diverted to Bangor, Maine with F-15 fighter escorts due to a suspicious passenger today.

US Airways Flight 787 was flying from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris (CDG) to Charlotte Douglas Airport (CLT) when the incident unfolded shortly before Bangor airspace.

‘“TSA is aware of reports of a passenger who exhibited suspicious behavior during flight. Out of an abundance of caution the flight was diverted to [Bangor] where it was met by law enforcement,” Transportation Security Administration spokesman David Castelveter said in a statement.

Two F-15s assigned to the 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard base in Westfield, Mass., “were scrambled under the direction of North American Aerospace Defense Command at [11:40 Eastern Daylight Time] in response to an incident aboard a US Airways flight,” said Air Force Technical Sergeant Thomas Doscher, a NORAD spokesman.’

Flight 787, a Boeing 767, landed safely at Bangor around noon.

There is no further information at the moment but we will update as we find out more…

Wahh?? Is this woman nuts?? I hope they put her on the no fly list for life… The passengers of that flight must have been TERRIFIED when they saw the fighter jets come up beside it! They aren’t there to do anything but shoot it down LOL.
