A United Airlines flight heading to Cancun, Mexico had to divert to Tampa International (TPA) this morning when the crew reported smoke in the cabin.

United flight 831, an Airbus A320, departed Washington, Dulles International (IAD) at 9:13 AM EDT with 127 people on board.

The flight landed at Tampa at 11:23 AM.

There were no reported injuries.

There is no word when the flight will resume.

    Do the airlines ever find out what causes the smoke in such incidences? I’ve always wondered what the culprits are…

      As far as I know Chris, it’s a variety of things but I think the most common culprit is electrical due to some type of overheating. Someone who’s an expert would know more than me…although I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night……:)
