An Emirates Airline check-in clerk will serve 1 year in jail after she bribed a passenger for an overweight bag he was checking for a flight.

‘The incident occurred in February when a Kuwaiti flyer, who was a member of the armed forces, was checking in his bags and discovered he was 27kg overweight for the flight.

The clerk said she would check the luggage in if he put AED800 (US$217) in an envelope.’

The passenger than asked authorities about her move and she was then questioned by airport police.

She later confessed to the bribe and handed over the money.

The Kenyan employee pleaded guilty in a Dubai court where she was sentenced.

She will also pay a $272 fine.

The incident reportedly took place at Dubai Airport.

Wahh? Was the $217 bribe less than the overweight charge?

Doesn’t sound like she was too bright… :)

Not at all! LOL. But i’m not gonna lie, if i was told i’d have to pay $200 in fees and the agent said if i slipped her $25 in an envelope she’d let the bags go, i’d say “SURE THING!”

I think it’s just going to get worse too with rising fuel prices and the like. It’s going to get real expensive to fly.
