Qantas Delays Airbus A380 Order
Qantas Airways said today they will delay delivery of 2 Airbus A380 Superjumbo airliners saying they need to cut capital spending.
The 2 A380s were slated to be delivered early next year, but now Qantas won’t be taking them unitl 2016 or 2017. Six more after that will delivered to the Aussie airline in 2019.
Airbus has had a bit of rough time recently with China delaying the plane maker’s orders over the EU Carbon Tax battle.
However, Qantas says their push-back of its Airbus A380 order has nothing to do with the EU:
“It’s purely to reduce capital expenditure. We’re obviously participating in the EU emissions trading scheme but we are already fully compliant with it, so unlike Chinese airlines and U.S. airlines we have no intention of objecting to the EU ETS,” said a Qantas spokesman.
Qatar Airways has also held up its order of the Superjumbo due to the wing crack issues with the plane.

Hmm… is it just me, or does this sound like Qantas is using this as an excuse to “get out” of having to get the plagued A380?
It defintely doesn’t look good does it?
Not at all- Airbus needs to get these stupid planes fixed.
Hate to sound like a broken record but this plane is seriously flawed. They rushed it out and now they’re paying the price. Of course, this isn’t new for Airbus…
