Qantas Flight Attendant Arrested for Smuggling $260,000 in Drugs
A Qantas flight attendant was arrested last Friday by Australian authorities and accused of smuggling $260,000 worth of drugs from Los Angeles.
49-year-old Samuel Berl Kaufman was caught at his home in the city of South Yarra in Melbourne:
‘A Melbourne court heard yesterday that Kaufman had 250g of methamphetamine on him and during a search of his car, police found party drugs ice and GHB as well as’ drug paraphernalia including an ice pipe and “deal” bags. Upon Kaufman’s arrest, he pulled two heavily taped envelopes from his pants. He told police they contained cash an American friend had asked him to give to someone in Australia. But when police opened the envelopes they found two blocks of “white crystal” substance that weighed 250g, senior constable Howden told the court. He conceded there was no evidence Kaufman had paid for the drugs. Kaufman has been charged with nine offences, including two charges of importing drugs and one of trafficking a commercial quantity of methamphetamine.’
Kaufman was released on $20,000 bail but had surrender his passports.
