600 workers from Croatia Airlines walked off the job today and went on strike in protest of job demands that are not being met.

The employees are asking the airline to stop hiring new workers (mostly flight attendants) through agencies and perhaps more importantly, to give pilots more rest between flights:

“We have two flights, and between them two and a half hours rest and then again after two flights, all after midnight. This rest is not enough. We want to work, but we certainly do not want to endanger anyone, neither passengers nor the company”, – said captain Hrvoje Busic.

24 Croatia Airlines flights are expected to be cancelled.

The strike is planned to last 24 hours.
