Silk Air Flight’s Landing Gear Catches Fire on Landing in Indonesia
A Silk Air flight had its landing gear catch fire as it landed in Indonesia today according to the Jakarta Globe.
The Airbus A319 landed at Adisumarmo Airport (SOC), Indonesia and immediately after the tower radioed the crew there was a fire on the left gear.
Passengers were evacuated via emergency slides. No one was reported injured.
Silk Air is maintaining that the gear did not catch fire, contrary to what the tower is saying.
A full investigation is underway:
“The Transportation Ministry’s directorate general of air transport has asked Silk Air to report [the incident] to the KNKT [National Committee for Transportation Safety],” Bambang said Tuesday in Jakarta.
“This is a serious incident and [it has] occurred within Indonesia’s territories. KNKT can cooperate with the Singaporean authorities in its investigation,” he added.
Silk Air is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines.
