The FAA is seeking a $153,000 fine from Continental Connection partner Colgan Air for operating flights without giving proper rest to its crew on 17 flights between 2008 and 2009.

Continental Connection Flight 3407 crashed in Clarence, Erie County, on Feb. 12, 2009 (near Buffalo, New York), killing all 49 passengers on board the aircraft and one on the ground who was in their house. The FAA ruled that the pilots did not have sufficient rest and that very well likely played a role in the disaster.

The incident was officially blamed by the FAA on the captain for pilot error.
