Emirates Flight Loses Hydraulics on Approach to Munich
An Emirates Airline flight from Dubai to Munich developed hydraulic problems on approach for landing last Sunday.
Pilots on Emirates flight 51, an Airbus A340 initially reported losing “…all hydraulics” as they approached runway 26R at Munich. The gear was reportedly stuck down and had no nose gear steering.
Pilots aborted the first attempt at landing but was able to land safely on the second attempt.
The airliner was grounded for three hours whereby the problem was fixed and they were able to make the return flight to Dubai.

Do the hydraulics control the flaps, rudder, and ailerons as well?
I think (but don’t quote me on this) that it depends on the aircraft type but most of them have separate systems. Anyone confirm this?
