O'Hare Airport today is seeing 100's of flights cancelled due to snow

A snowstorm moving through Chicago Thursday has resulted in over 400 flights being cancelled at O’Hare Airport as well as Chicago Midway.

Southwest Airlines, who operates all their Chicago flights out of Midway, has cancelled all their flights between 1-6PM local time. That amounts to about 100 flights.

More than 300 flights have been cancelled at O’Hare:

‘American Airlines and its American Eagle regional carrier have canceled 166 flights, Mary Frances Fagan, a company spokeswoman, said in an e-mail. O’Hare is a hub for American and United Continental Holdings Inc., the parent of United and Continental airlines.’

More snow is expected to fall Thursday night and there is no word on how many more flights could be affected.

UPDATE:

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Southwest will resume a full schedule of flights at 6PM local time. Flights out of O’Hare are resuming but there delays due to de-icing.
